IB Polaris (Arctia)
Polaris, the world's first icebreaker powered by liquefied natural gas, was completed at the Helsinki shipyard in 2016. Shipping company Arctia praises Polaris as the world's most environmentally friendly diesel-electric icebreaker.
Polaris is a masterpiece of Finnish shipbuilding. Innovative design can be found, for example, in the form of the hull and in the propeller devices.
The ship was designed specifically for the demanding conditions of the Baltic Sea. It can also be used as an emergency tug and for oil control.
Planneri made a strong contribution to machine design and also supported production phases.
