The construction of Turva-class patrol ships has begun

Two Turva-class offshore patrol ships are being built for The Finnish Border Guard. The Finnish Parliament has allocated EUR 448 million for the procurement of the ships. Funding is also sought from the European Union.

Construction of the first new patrol ship began in December 2023. The ships is are scheduled for delivery in 2026. The Border Guard currently operates three offshore patrol ships, of which only Turva, delivered in 2014, meets modern standards.

The new patrol ships offer significantly improved capabilities compared to the existing fleet. In addition to border surveillance, they can be used for oil spill response and mass evacuation operations.

The ships are being built in Gdańsk, Poland and Uusikaupunki, Finland, under the leadership and responsibility of Meyer Turku.

Planneri’s design scope covers a major part of the ships’ machinery systems engineering.
